Position Description:

The VA National Center for PTSD, Behavioral Science Division, at the VA Boston Healthcare System and Boston University School of Medicine seeks a clinical research psychologist. The National Center for PTSD is a multi-site consortium within the Department of Veteran Affairs, mandated by Congress to study traumatic stress and its consequences. The Behavioral Science Division, located in Boston, anticipates a staff position with duties beginning in 2008.

The Behavioral Science Division is nationally recognized for developing model research and clinical programs in stress and trauma. The division has outstanding resources for research, training, and clinical activities. Exceptional opportunities for collaboration exist at VA Boston, Boston University, and across the national center consortium, as well as with professionals in military and DOD settings.

A major focus of the national center is the study and treatment of trauma-related conditions in military veterans, but candidates who work in related areas are strongly encouraged to apply. This might involve the study of other trauma populations, application of complementary research methods (e.g., neuroscience or genetics), or compatible areas of study (e.g., personality, psychopathology, or lifespan development).

Requirements:

Ph.D. in clinical psychology and clinical internship from APA-accredited programs, demonstrated research and grant writing skills, and existing licensure in the U.S. or eligibility for professional licensure in Massachusetts.
